Who me?

Community

I am so grateful for all that my family has provided for me, and the strong friendships that I have had the past 25 years have significantly affected me. I really value the communities I have been a part of in every stage of my life.

Sustainability

However much I search for more ethical brands and ways to reuse old things, I know that changes in my personal consumerism will never be as far reaching and affective as considering the climate crisis in all my designs.

Heritage

Most revered designers and styles that I have noticed in my education come from outside Latin America, and as fascinating as the Bauhaus and such can be, I feel that I must honor my Mexican heritage in my work and life.

Craftsmanship

I fell in love with design by the physicality of it. There is something so satisfying in painstakingly constructing the pieces of a design together to form something beautiful, be it hard like wood or soft like fabric.

Collaboration

Group projects are notoriously bad experiences, but I feel that I thrive in them. Working hand in hand with diverse minds, accessing completely different experiences and approaches to the same problem can yield the best results.

Travel

Growing up, I have fortunately been able to visit family in Mexico regularly, and now as an adult, travel remains vital since experiencing cultures and lives differing from my own is incomparable and transformative.
